Eunique Deeann, who goes by Euni, is a Southern California writer, poet and documentary photographer and artist. She submitted a piece to No. 12 Air Head. Today we learn a little bit more about the writer.

Tell me a little bit about yourself, how did you start writing?

Eunique Deeann is a writer, poet, documentary photography + artist. She is currently exploring the breakdown of human connection through stories told from birth through death and everything in between in written and visual arts. She lives in Southern California and writes by the name, Euni.

What do you most like to write about?

I write most often about life + the layers of love. I like to let the expressions pour out as they unfold and create stories based on emotions, conversations, real-life events, heartbeats, and heartbreaks.

If you have writer's block, what do you do?

If I get stuck with words, I shift to another medium. When I can't write, I pick up my camera. If I can't see the stories in imagery, I sing. I dance. I hike. I yoga. I move my body when my mind is too full, or clouded to release the things inside.

What comes to mind when someone says Air Head?

It's such a layered expression that I haven't really heard since childhood. I haven't thought of it in a while, but when I do I think of a painting, cartoon-style visual. Of a person with a basket body and a balloon head that's only held down by a string attached to the body that weighs it down.

Why do you write and who are some of your favorite authors?

I write because I have to. I can't not write. It's been a part of me for as long as I can remember, and the more life that goes by, the more of a necessity it becomes. I read all types of books from stories to woo-woo to self improvement to informational and educational. I know this is a popular question for writers, but for me, I don't have a favorite as of yet. I just try to expand my brain with as many styles and levels of writing as possible. I read well known published and famous authors as well as mindspins and slabs of bravery from friends and strangers on the internet. The only thing that is a must for me in both is that I read everyday. I write everyday.

Was there a time in your life when someone called you an Air Head?

Haha, probably. I feel air-heady often.

If you could write a book about anything, what would it be?

I have written two poetry books: part one: One Hundred Love Letters I Never Sent and part two: Self Love is Freeing.

I am currently piecing together a memoir. So I guess this is a good place to start?
